Anyone have any avdice or opinions on which is better Tabs or Gloves. I have always shot with a glove and seem to be pretty happy with it. I have a friend that has been shooting instinctive much longer than I have and he say's that the tabs make for a much more quiet and smooth release.
Your Thoughts?

I like the tab because there is no break in period. I can switch from an old tab to a new one and have no problem, it shoots the same as the old one with the first shot.
I have also found I can switch diff. tabs and they all shoot the same for me.
I do like the cordovan tab from 3Rivers. It's real smooth and last a long time.
But as they say, to each their own.

I was a glove shooter for a long time. Tried everything under the sun. In my feeble mind I reasoned that Howard Hill, Byron Fergueson and others all seemed to shoot a glove so if it was good enough for them it was good enough for me. Oddly enough I notice that these guys by and large shot longbows. Being a recuve shooter maybe I should try a tab. That was two years ago and for me the tab was a better fit. I seemed to be able to feel my anchor better and my consistency improved. It may not have a thing to do with life but what I believe to be true. To each his own.

I have been told to shoot a tab many times. Tried many times, just can't and don't like it either. I love my Stick Tite glove. Always loved the Damascus too.

I bought a Cavalier Elite Cordovan tab awhile back and really like it. I use it with the finger spacer but without the ledge. Man is it ever slick.

I too am a tab guy. What's been said above no break in, long lasting (I have a couple of cordovan tabs that are 40 years old and still usable.) I also like having my fingers free so I can feel arrows in the quiver, nock index, etc. During cold glove and mitten weather the tab just stays on and the hand in the glove is warm. Ready to shoot? Just pull off glove and tab is there ready to go.

I used gloves for eons, and after trying a tab, I really haven't looked back. I find that the tab has a smoother release because there is no finger joint groove to slide up and out of, and, I like the fact that I can spin it around my finger to the back of my hand when I need fingers to do something, rather than having to remove a glove and rip the noisy velcro.....which gets 30 times louder in the bush for some reason....lol...It all comes to personal preference but tabs are cheap and really work well for me.
Cheers,
Harley

I tried a tab and shooting three under - the dang thing kept hitting my nose - hard enough that it made my eyes water. I tried trimming it and that didn't work either. Prefer a damascus type glove where I can feel the string.

TAB..... I shot a glove on both my compound and recurve, and went to a tab and there is no question I have a smoother release. I shoot a cordivan from 3 rivers I just trimed it up a bit. but everyone has his own prefrence.

I have switched from glove to tab back and forth through the years, but I must admit I prefer a tab. Get a good tab, cordivan from 3 rivers or Alaska Bowhunting Supply. I am picky about a good fit; I like the tab to lay flat on my hand and run about 1/2 inches short of my fingers. When I order a tab, I now order a medium and treat it with a good leather oil, rub it with paraffin wax, finally rub generous amounts of talcum powder on a continuing basis. I just made two excellent tabs this weekend from the tongue of worn out high quality leather shoes. Trace the pattern to the leather from your best tab and trim with scissors. Punch the finger hole with a hole punch. I tie a spare tab to my quiver and a couple extra with my gear pack.

I go back & forth. The biggest advantage of a tab is that it makes my string fingers work together as a unit, i.e., helps keep me from plucking the string. Next biggest adantage of tab is that I can feel my anchor point better with my bare finger tips. Most gloves have closed leather tips, often with very thick seams. The biggest adavantage of the glove to me is that I started bowhunting with a glove & it just seems more "tradtional" to me. I can't explain why because the tab is actually simpler looking. Maybe it's because I didn't first try a tab until I went to the compound for a few years during the 1980s. I drew the line there & I have never once pulled a bow using a release aid.

I just found one bad thing about tabs. I lost one yesterday. Good thing I ordered two!

Well thanks for all the advice about tabs vs gloves. I went to a local outfitter and bought a couple of different tabs this week and have been experimenting with them. So far I do seem to shoot better with the tab. However it feels really akward on my hand. I guess I will get used to that part.
Thanks to all
