Well, I won't be there, but I've given lots of advice on where to go! Can't believe that Roger and Toby took time out to post. Good show as always. At least my new Widow is on the way! Gotta kill a hog or two in about 3 weeks. Maybe a deer too, who knows?

back from big mac
had a great hunt except for the weather, hot and windy
Lane Kindle killed a 10 pt. that just missed the 125 inch mark, his dad got a small buck, my son killed a doe (lucky dog gets to go back next year with a quality pass), by the way first kill with his new psa tulipwood, I missed the buck of a lifetime saturday evening right at 6:00 p.m. at 35 yards. I think I shot at him for too far of a distance due to fact of large size (shot right over his back) I thought he was farther then he really was.
If you have never been there, you need to experience the place at lest once. Very well run program with good people. Not to mention probably the best chance to actually get to harvest a record book whitetail in a low fence area.

Congats to your son, any deer a trophy, even nicer to be ask back next year with a pass.
Do they have a place to keep your deer (cooler) when the weather is warm, or do you have to take into town?

you can either hang it in a screened in building or cut up and put into ice chest.
or you can do like we did with our three deer, donate them to feed the needy and they take care of everything.

Had lots of fun but no go on deer. I passed 2 small bucks and was on the wrong trail for a 140 class. Two days of 70+ degree weather and we only got a 1/2 day in the upper 50's today with misty condition. Figures!

My son Cody killed a doe with his new psax crossgrain graybark. Only had it a couple weeks. Think he dont have confidence in a BW bow!

I killed a doe Friday morning and then watched a 130 class buck stop right where I shot the doe...he was trailing her!
Having only the one either sex tag...I had to watch him go!

Being from Michigan, is this Mac Army Depot in Oklahoma? Is this a draw hunt? Open to everyone ? Sounds like a good hunt.

It's in McAlester Oklahoma (The Army depot) and it's six 3 day hunts..recurves and longbows only.
It's a draw hunt and it cost $70 as a non-res to get a small game license to enter the draw. The base has more regulations than Carter had liver pills...but great hunting and huge bucks!
P&Y's runs about 10% of the total buck harvest. They will let you purchase two tags but I only had purchased one to start the hunt...dumb on my part.

MIST, don't get too excited, it's pretty hard to draw in. The best draw odds are for the early hunts, when it's still pretty hot here. The closer your hunt is to the rut, which is usually around Nov. 15, the draw odds start going down. If are interested in applying, by all means do so, but just keep in mind that it is a very popular hunt, and a wee bit difficult to draw in.
Funny thing is, that before the base was "discovered" by the masses, in the late 60's, I drew every year. Sure was a fun hunt back then, and still is, but it got harder and harder to draw, once the word got out. I've missed the draw the last two years, and it will probably be another year or two before I can draw again. I always put in for the early hunts, as the draw odds are much better.
Check out the ODWC website for hunt info and draw odds.

Thanks John,I was more less curious as there were several people discussing this hunt.
I applied for 8 years to get an elk tag in Arizona. There you have to by a general hunting license to get a extra point in the event you do not get drawn. Those 8 years added up to about $1000.00.
That hunt turned out to be one of the most exciting hunts ever, even tho I did not fill my tag. Good luck, Curt.
