Well, I can't believe it, but I filled my buck tag the last day of the early bow season! Some of you know I broke a vertabrae in two places 17 days ago and have been in bed up to a few days ago. Knowing walking is tough and climbing a tree would be dangerous I set up my double bull blind. I told my wife I was going to come home from work a little early Friday and see if I can sit for an hour. Well sitting was too much so I ended up lying on my back and peaking out the windows every once in a while. Wouldn't you know here comes a buck and he is moving quick. He has his nose to the ground and looks like a bird dog. I get on my knees, I grab my bow and nock an arrow and he is already past my big center window. I grunted at him with my mouth and stopped him. That was the first time I have ever pulled that off. I don't like shooting through the side windows, especially when my video camera is blocking half the window. Due to the angle I was not happy with my shot, but I knew it was a fatal one so I left him over night. Knowing the terrain I was confident I knew where he would go down. I went out first light and walked up the main deer trail into the bedding area and there he was. I was pretty pumped even though it wasn't my biggest deer by a long shot. It was my first deer from my double bull. It was the first time I successfully grunted/stopped and shot a deer. It was the first time I found a deer that wasn't a perfect shot. After calling my friends a bunch of them offered to come with me and drag the deer out. It was definitely a team effort. I have filled all my tags every year for a while now and I was really thinking that this year I was not going to pull it off. A month ago I had some weddings and bdays and thought I had plenty of time to get my buck. Then my back went out and time became precious. Well, today we start over and I have another buck tag. This is my favorite time of year and I hope to get up in a tree by Nov 10. We shall see, for now I am happy that I harvested this nice 6 pointer. I will post pics on the photobucket Monday.

I finally downloaded the pics to the photobucket. I also forgot the most important fact, it was my first buck on my property!

Just went to the bucket. That's a great buck!!! Add to it off the ground and first from you're own land, I'd have him on the wall.

Congrats Alex, way to go! I'm leaving for Iowa on Sunday. Still struggling to walk after a nasty fall and surgery. My buddies have been working to make this happen for me so I too will be hunting out of a ground blind which they are setting up for me. Hope to have a bit of your good luck!

Hey Michael, Good luck and glad to hear you are going to get out there. Here are some tips for you that helped me. I brought a wool blanket and layed it on the ground so I could lay down and give my back a break. I also bought the biggest most comfortable chair most I could find, the kind you buy at a sporting goods store for tailgating that opens up. Then if something goes by get on your knees and sit on your heels. I always put the chair in the back corner of the blind and then get in front of it on the ground to shoot. I was really happy just to be out there with the animals again, but getting a deer on my property was a dream of mine, and I am just so happy. My back is absolutely killing me today, sitting at my desk for a full day just really set me back. I promised a friend I would bring him hunting Saturday and I really want to make it.

Now I'm confused, but I think I've got it figured out. Angling Archer & MAXHunter are one & the same?

Yeah!!!!! anglingarcher is MAXHunter!!! When I am at my home computer I am angling when I am at my office I am MAX. When I got my new computer I thought you could not use the same serial number or name twice. I believe I even tried to fix the problem and I guess it didn't work.
