Easton axis

easton Axis 400's would put you around 430 grains

One sharp,

what tip weight are you using, thanks.

From: Graysquirrel
Date: 07-Nov-09

Heritage 90's at 30 inches (one inch longer than your draw for broadhead safety) will weigh about 435 grains with a 125 grain point by themselves. With no extra weighted crap to deal with.

The spine out on an old fashioned spine tester at 58 lbs. Several guys are shooting them out of 45-53lb bows with very good results.

125 grain

Aw Bob, you're just trying to sell shafts! LOL! Everybody knows you need a heavy shaft like a CX 150 for a Widow! HAW HAW HAW

Seriously, I would go with Carbon Express. Either a 90, or 150, depending on draw length, arrow length, and tip weight.

Believe it or not John I really ain't, got a new shaft that is EXACTLY like the old "spiders" that the 90's replaced. Kinda interesting to note how they react.

Heritage 90's at 28 inches with 125 grain point - 420 grain - cost around $100 fletched

Carbon Express Spiders at 28 inches with 125 grain points - 380 grains - cost (discontinued)

Carbon Express Preditor II 20-40lb at 28 inches with 125 grain points - 370 grain spine equal to Spiders - cost $61 dollars fletched ( they are considered a kids arrow like the spiders first were)

Carbon Express Preditor II 30-50lb at 28 inches with 125 grain points - 387 grains spine is equal to the 90's -cost is also $61 dollars

Now being the frugal individual I am and I can get shafts that duplicate the spiders and weight within 10 grains either way of them what do YOU think I'm going to use?

yea nothin' like a shaft made in Korea to go with that American made Widow - especially when our economy is doing so well and everyone has jobs and all...

Guys, I'm playing with graysquirrel. I have great respect for him. We have to aggravate one another pretty often, just to for general principles.

Onesharp, I agree with the concept of buy American, and the economy is hurting me too. Unfortunately, a lot of very good products are made overseas now. If we buy goods made only in America, we won't have very much. Not taking issue with you at all sir. I truly wish that I could have a quality arrow that I really liked, made in America. I truly love Ford trucks, but you might get one with a Mexican connection. That won't keep me from buying one though.

We live in trying times indeed. I really wish that I could return to the 50's when I was a kid growing up. Everyone had their heads screwed on straight back then. We could use Truman or Eisenhower back in the White House. Everything was a hell of a lot better back then. But, sadly, those times are long gone, never to return. Too much greed and arrogance in the world today.

Well onesharp, the guy that owns Carbon Express lives in Michigan, made his money in Michigan from quick trip type stores that Michigans spent all their money in on beer and other great necessities, and IF he could get a shaft made here in the same quality he probably would.

But since quality is the main thing that sells his products,,,,, well enough said.

John you can keep the 50's, we had an outhouse 50 yds behind mom and dad's house with no running water in eastern Oklahoma then. Sears and Roebuck catalogue(note it was American made) was a bit slick on the working area.

You originally from eastern Oklahoma? Weeell, that explains everything! No wonder you are like you are! OK, I'll give you the outhouse, as I don't like them either. But, I'll take everything else. LOL!

Got a funny one. My wife grew up in a similar situation. 13 people in a four room farm house. They were VERY poor. Her grandfather couldn't see too well, and he kept the catalog paper, as well as his money, in his pocket, on the way to the outhouse. Occasionally, he would get his money mixed up with the catalog paper. Well, she, and her older sister would sometimes find a dollar or two that he had used, to take care of business. They would clean it up, and keep it to spend. In those days, they were very lucky to get a piece of penny candy on Saturday, when dad took them all to town to buy groceries. A dollar would last them for a year in candy money. Yep, pretty tough times. But, out of 7 kids, all went to college, got their degrees, and became sucessful.

Hey whats wrong with an outhouse?? Thats what I have up at my camp.Although it is a fiberglass construction outhouse and I have it pumped out a few times a year.

I know John, my kids roll their eyes and can't believe it when I tell them we finally got water and a inside bathroom when I was 14. I managed to get out of that stuff and go to college on my own. Didn't want to work on a dairy or chicken farm and shovel it like my cousins wound up doing.

As bad as times are, it could be worse.

Not to make a long dragged out debate about this but one guy in Michigan that sold out potential workers here in America so that he could make more more profits does not impress me - I would rather have one CEO make a little less money and hundreds of workers making a living here in the USA. The guy or CEO that owns/runs Easton lives in America too - and guess what - so do the workers that make his arrows.

In fact I would rather see the owner of Carbon Express live in Korea and the workers live in America - than the other way around.

I understand that in this wonderful global economy (the one that is destroying our once great nation) that unfortunately we can't always buy American - but when we can - I believe we should whenever it is possible and reasonable to do so.

but hey - who I am to say - maybe it is a good thing to buy all this foreign stuff - maybe if nobody works here or manufactures anything here and we are all on welfare it will be better for everyone. We know that the CEO's will be doing well anyhow - but wait - who will buy their products if nobody here is working - i think that is who the entire global economy comes crashing down - wait - thats happenining - ain't it - oh - no - it is sub prime loans - LOL.

anyhow - shoot what you want and live it up while you still can - cause it looks like Obamacare is going to be a reality

Matchka, you might want to look at the easton lightspeed 500's. Im shooting out of a 47lb recuve with 200+gn head. not sure what I got them cut to, but they weigh about 459gns. Don

I have an SAII 50# 27". Vernon helped me to bareshaft tune and I ended up with the Carbon Express 150s cut at 28 1/2" with a 125 broadhead. Mine turned out to be around 530ish. Shooting them like a dart. Good luck with them. lareva

I wonder what is going to happen when all these bleeding hearts that can't wait for this communistic crap to pass find out that they will have to pay for this insurance and if they don't have it - they will be fined for not buying it?

Greysquirrel and John, Do you use the carbon express nocks?

From: Graysquirrel
Date: 09-Nov-09

Jeff, I use them, I make my own strings with 15 strands of dynaflite 97. I then use .023 fastflight serving. nocks fit good and snug. I've never had a problem with them using that combination.
