So, for the first time in many years I failed to fill my buck tag between November 10-17th, got one yesterday though. The rut here was the first week of November. So, in my stand on the 17th the same two does came in again with no bucks in sight. As is common in NJ this one particular doe chose to scan the trees above her. I did not appreciate this, I don't need does growing up and surviving with such survival tactics. I had my video camera with me so I thought, I can get some video footage and remove a potential trouble maker from my spot. At one point I could have probably killed both standing shoulder to shoulder, but that would be illegal, so I had to wait for the deer to move. Once clear I delivered my lumenok right behind the leg. It was one of the most devastating injuries I have ever seen a deer suffer. The arrow kind of impeded deer's ability to run and the arrow really tore open huge wounds on both sides. She went crashing fifty yards and the blood trail started from the spot she was hit and did not stop. It's a good video, love those lumenoks. I am just happy to be hunting again. Will download video when I get a chance.
